"A combination of grandeur and good nature, courage and docility. Dignity, rather than gaiety, is the Mastiff's correct demeanor."

Special Needs Mastiffs

Friends of Rescued Mastiffs, Inc.
Rescue & Placement Service

Every year, hundreds of Mastiffs are abandoned, relinquished or discarded into rescue. In the vast majority of cases, these noble giant dogs arrive at their foster homes poorly nourished, untrained and needing veterinary care. It is always an expensive proposition to care for any breed of dog in a rescue situation, however when it comes to Mastiffs the expense is as big as the dog in need! Crates, toys, collars, leads, bedding, dishes, the list of items required to house a Mastiff is long and large. In addition, the sheer amount of food necessary to return the dogs to good health is huge.

Unfortunately, many of the dogs that come into rescue are debilitated, ill or with outstanding medical issues that need to be addressed. If orthopedic procedures are required, it is common for the bills to be in excess of $1,000.00 for our gentle giants. Medications cost more due to the dog's size and many times nutritional supplements are vital to the restoration of their health. As you can see, it takes a lot more of everything to maintain and rehabilitate rescued Mastiffs so that they are prepared for their new homes.

Friends Of Rescued Mastiffs, Inc. (FOR Mastiffs) was created by a group of Mastiff owners and experienced rescuers who wanted to make a difference. We exist to provide for the dogs that so desperately need assistance as well as educate the public on issues related to Mastiffs. We ask private corporations and companies to donate goods and services to assist foster families in caring for the dogs in their homes. We also ask Mastiff lovers such as you to make a monetary donation to assist us in covering veterinary costs and to purchase the items needed by the foster families to provide of the dogs in their care.

Our organization is a fully incorporated charitable animal welfare organization that has tax-deductible IRS 501(c)3 status. All donations are gratefully accepted and no amount is considered too small. All contributions go directly to the Mastiffs in need since we have no overhead costs and our directors and agents receive no compensation for the work they do. Please help us! If you have any questions about FOR Mastiffs, our mission or how you can make a contribution, do not hesitate to contact us. Even the smallest donation will make a big difference to a big dog.
